If there’s one thing I’m enjoying the most about being back in San Francisco for an extended amount of time ~ it’s just soaking up the city by walking everywhere, and enjoying all of my favorite old haunts. From dinners and pre-bedtime neighborhood strolls as a family… to my morning walks along Chestnut and through the Marina to grab coffee or brunch on the weekend with girlfriends.
Last week I walked and met a girlfriend for a late breakfast at Rose’s Cafe on Union Street and it just made me so happy! While the food is always consistent,… for me, it’s more about the cozy nostalgia of sitting in one of the booths with my latte.
But let’s chat about what to wear to brunch!… styling pieces from Banana Republic.
Coffee Run | Saint Frank on Polk Street
I’ve tried a number of short styles this summer and was excited to finally find a longer bermuda short that fit me so well! I ordered these in petite (true to size) and the length and waist are perfect. I have already worn them a handful of times and know I’ll get a lot of wear out of them.
A longer dressier short feels like the ideal pulled together, summer coffee run attire. Not too casual, not over dressed. Polished but cool… it just felt right and a look that you can go about your day in. You could also wear these shorts to the office, depending on your summer dress code or add the matching blazer for a cute short suit set. I like the shorts with a nude sandal to elongate the legs but you could also wear with a ballet flat or loafer.
I wore the shorts with this fitted linen short-sleeve which gives a nice texture to an otherwise simple all-black look and I threw my windbreaker on top. I’d also wear these shorts with a simple oversized tee and denim jacket.
Brunch with Girlfriends | Rose’s Cafe on Union Street
This linen dress is the only mini dress I brought for SF but it’s truly such a good staple. I like the boxy shape and the cut / fit again just fit me so well. If you’re a minimalist like me, a little summer black dress is one that I live in. This dress has cute tie detailing in the back and the straps are adjustable which is nice. Personally it’s one that I don’t even need to wear a bra with because the top holds you in nicely which is always a win in my book in the summer.
A few other brunch-worthy summer looks I’m loving from BR!
Brunch in the city in cotton and poplin (another chic midi dress option). I do always prefer a midi length when eating out and sitting… I’m always cold!
Poplin shirtdress… this feels like a cute one I’d walk to breakfast and the farmers market in.
Embroidered cotton poplin kaftan (on sale!)… for that Mexico resort bite by the pool over your suit. Those sleeves and embroidered details are too good!
Eyelet midi skirt (and top) or a longer summer kaftan for hot summer city days or that vacation breakfast at the beach.
Banana republic is so good right now! That red lace skirt and top are def going on the carted wishlist, love the shorts too!
