Notes from the Weekend
Wine country, poolside lounging to camp drop off...
Hope you had a lovely Fourth and your July is off to a nice start! It’s always such a sweet holiday in our neighborhood. They close down the streets for the parade, and the kids spend the day running from house to house—bouncing between backyard pools and racing down inflatable waterslides. It also might be the longest / most exhausting day of summer for parents, ha!
It always takes me right back to my own childhood. Long afternoons with friends, slices of watermelon, and family barbecues after a full day in the sun. I love that my kids are making so many of those same summer memories now—pool dips before dinner, the smell of sunscreen, sun-kissed shoulders, and sleepy baths / showers after long days outside.
My husband and I had been craving a little date day, so we snuck away to wine country on Sunday for an afternoon at Scribe. It always feels like visiting an old friend. The moment we pull up, there’s an instant exhale. It’s one of my happiest places—relaxed vibe, and exactly where I want to spend a sunny afternoon with a glass of wine. We had lunch at the Hacienda this time, which is perfect for a date day or a long lunch with friends. The Knoll is where we love to bring the kids for a picnic. Planning to put a few more wine country escapes on the calendar in July!
After a couple of weeks in San Francisco’s fog (which, admittedly, was pretty dreamy), it’s actually been nice to settle back into the heat. Lots of slow mornings and poolside lounging with the kids over here. I’ve been reaching for all of my airy linen, eyelet, and cotton pieces again.
Last summer’s Zimmermann dress (below) is my go-to when I’m craving a more feminine style. It’s also a very forgiving silhouette which is nice and breezy for backyard hangs and bbq’s. I tend to rewear my pieces on repeat in the summer especially.
Another dress that gives a similar feel
The Look | Gold Chain. Pendants. Dress. Sunglasses. Mesh Bag. Sandals.
These sandals have been my favorite way to style more feminine dresses and looks like this one. They were my summer splurge, and I wore them to Scribe yesterday. I love how the black keeps the look feeling grounded and a little less precious. They took a little breaking in, but now they’re really comfortable.
My skirt is older — similar style here and this one too. A longer linen skirt is also a go-to of mine (I brought this one with me to Italy) for when I’m craving a little more of a sophisticated look.
(I wear this slip underneath white / more sheer styles like this skirt)
Layered jewelry, always. I've been wearing my By Pariah pendant on an older, more delicate chain because I love the longer length, but I've been eyeing a chunkier version like this one for layering (officially on my wishlist). I've also been stacking my Jane Pope Six Point rings (in 3MM and 4MM) together lately—and I'm kind of obsessed with the combination.
Parade bound on the Fourth…
This is another top that has been on repeat lately (from Jenni Kayne*)… I brought it to SF with me and am currently wearing it back home — it’s a great style for the heat. Voluminous, and I like that you can push the sleeve up or pull it down slightly — depending on how you style it. I’m wearing XS (take your true size).

And I’ve mentioned these shorts many times but they’re the only denim pair I’ve been wearing this spring through summer. It’s slightly longer but not too long — if you’re shorter it’s a nice length on us (size down, more sizes and colors here).
The Look | Wrap Chain Necklace. Knit Long Sleeve. Tank. Sunglasses. Swimsuit. Athletic Shorts. Celine Bag. Sandals.
Westman Atelier Hydrating Lipstick in Ballerine
What caught my eye this week…
Vintage feeling athletic shorts — for mom life and the perfect oversized knit long sleeve for Bay Area summer weather.
I ordered this tank and it is very flattering — great in both shades of gray
Our Boll & Branch sheets (are currently on sale) — I have these on our master and guest beds and they’re the absolute best cotton sheets for summer. If you’re in need / prepping your house for summer guests — their annual sale is happening (up to 40% off through July 12th with code: SUMMER).
For anyone wanting their backyard to feel a little more resort-like... Business & Pleasure's sale is another one to browse. We have their umbrellas and towels by our pool. And their furniture collaboration with Jenni Kayne is especially beautiful.
Westman Atelier made the perfect hydrating summer lip balm (code: ALICIA15)
I ordered this summer linen tee in both cream and black (best basics!)
Dries has me swooning once again with this skirt
And a great beach / pool / sports-mom carry-all tote. Roomy enough for a towel, water bottle and all of the kid’s things.
I recently restocked what has become my go-to night cream—loving the new packaging. Their hibiscus serum has also been a go-to for summer hydration. Just the absolute loviest line of skincare!!

Scribe is also one of my happiest places. Hope we run into each other one of these times. 🤍
Your outfits (and story telling overall) are equal parts lived in and ethereal. Always inspiring! Would you mind sharing sizing guidance for that St Agni charcoal grey tank? I was eyeing it too.
