Punta Mita! & Minimal Beachy Attire

I hope your summer is off to a fun and hopefully also a relaxing start! We just got home from a week in Punta Mita (Mexico)… and it was the most ideal, low-key, relaxing, margarita-and-taco-fueled, beachy family getaway. I didn’t realize how much I needed some time truly disconnected and off-the-grid just the four of us… and it’s honestly feeling a little hard to jump back in ~ now what to share?!!

Let’s start with Punta Mita! If you’re looking for a relaxing family getaway somewhere in Mexico ~ it was just the slow pace we were hoping for with younger kids (ages: 7 and 5). It’s a private peninsula (near Sayulita / Puerto Vallarta) with a few resorts and homes that you can rent on a gorgeous strip of beach. It was just so nice to roll from our room just steps onto the beach and around the corner to the pool / multiple restaurant options. We went off property a few times and into the town, Punta de Mita, for dinners which was fun too. I’ll share more of the highlights below for anyone interested!

It was a much more casual, no-makeup wearing week in Mexico for me… and one in which I lived in just a few key pieces.

Minimal Packing (for any beachy destination) |

I packed minimally for this trip (mainly all older pieces I’ve worn for a few summers now). I knew our days would be spent in swimsuits which always makes vacation packing easy. And on kid-mode… so it was less of a dress-up for dinners vibe and more tacos by the pool kind of nights which was honestly the best. It was a reminder that a minimal capsule of a few key pieces to remix is all you need for these kinds of family trips. I felt like I had a lot of combinations with the assortment that I packed that I didn’t even get a chance to wear!

When packing for any trip or destination I always think about a color palette and I was feeling very minimal this trip. Almost all neutrals (ivorys and blacks) but threw in some orange and greens. I wanted to keep my dressing easy and effortless so I could just focus on my family. And honestly the vibe in Punta Mita is so much more low-key and casual than I had anticipated so I was glad I didn’t over pack. It was definitely a roll from the beach to your next meal week. And even putting on jewelry for dinner didn’t feel right most nights. But I did string some seashells onto my necklaces that Willow and I found on our morning beach walks. More seashell jewelry making to come because we found some good ones!!

I lived in button-down shirts (this is an oldie but goodie staple of mine for a few years)... as well as an orange wrap (an older Johanna Ortiz one ~ also love) to and from the pool.

Johanna Ortiz is one of my favorites for special vacation pieces ~ I wore this dress (more sizes here too) out two nights I loved it so much. It’s super comfy, was breezy for the humidity and can also be worn as a skirt. It’s perfect for any dressier vacation nights but still rides that line of resort casual.

I also highly recommend this dress as it was my true mvp of the week. It’s perfect for any beachy destination or humid city travels when you want to look nice but also want minimal material on / touching your body! (I’m 5’1’’ and went with the 0)

This was the only bag I brought ... and this beach tote from By Malene Birger (which I also packed as my carry-on personal item). This would be another great bigger beach bag option for summer mom toting. I had thought about a smaller evening clutch but never really had a need for one so I’m glad I didn’t pack one! (It was a much more casual Mexico / family trip than say Cabo.)

This hat* is the only summer hat you need! It’s packable and bendable and one that can get wet… it's great. This is the first of this style hat that is finally working on me… I think since you can shape it it fits my small head better.

I love my Jaime Haller sandals (my second summer in these). And I also packed an older pair of A.Emery sandals (similar) for a slightly dressier evening option.

I also lived in an older pair of linen shorts (mine are ~ 5 years old from Nili Lotan) but this is a similar style. Oooh and PS: cute new Posse launched while I was away too … love this top for summer!

Another pair of easy shorts worn to and from the pool with button-downs.

I lived in my Hunza G suits the most… I just think they’re the comfiest / easiest mom-mode swimsuits. I packed this one piece and an older Hunza two-piece (also love!) As well as my absolute favorite Eres swimsuit. (This was a gift last year from Mytheresa, and it’s my most flattering, chicest suit I own. I just love a strapless for zero tan lines).

My green dress is older Dôen ~ but new summer pieces launched this past week while I was away (similar vibe in pink)! And this dress would have been a perfect Mexico poolside vibe. PS: I think this is the exact summer blazer I have been on the hunt for!! Should I try it?

Lipgloss for those pool days / that Mexican heat. I love everything UBeauty and they sent me this new collab ~ the slight hint of pink is so nice for an everyday gloss.

Punta Mita Recap |

I would 100% want to go back to Punta Mita. It felt very quiet… I’m not sure if we
