I save a lot of gorgeous outfits as inspiration but in my actual day-to-day life I’m not wearing these looks. Instead, I’m working from home (often in jeans)… and then schlepping my kids around to and from sports in the afternoons. I’m sitting in the grass and cheering from the sidelines. I have embraced the unwashed hair days ~ baseball caps, oversized sweatshirts and sweater life. Sure, I am going on date nights and out with friends (when I really love to think about what I’m going to wear)… but all this is to say, I’m trying to be really practical with my fall cravings at the moment and what I actually wear day-to-day. I’m realizing this is the majority of my audience too (?!) as my “Easy Casual” posts have become my most popular here and my most common request on Instagram.
Friday I was packing for Rex’s soccer tournament in Tahoe (a weekend of back-to-back games and chillier true fall temps)… and was inspired to put together some inspiration for myself and decided to share it on my blog. You all loved it so I thought I’d pull together a bit more mom on-the-sidelines inspiration for us too.
I realized there’s a kind of recipe I like when it comes to these more athleisure looks. And how to feel more myself or styled in these casual everyday looks… I’m sure you all know these but just jotting notes!
Easy ways to look a little more pulled together…
- layered tee under the sweatshirt (I have a few of my t-shirt faves that I often layer with saved here)… the white pop underneath adds a styling element
- jewelry / sunglasses / and a great bag with sweats always elevates the look
- fun / quirky baseball hats
- all black (always for me)
- non-athelisure jacket over leggings for more of that city vibe

(Above) is going to be my soccer mom inspo board this fall. Swapping Gwen’s trousers for a more athletic pant or denim but you get the vibe!
I was cold in the evening in Tahoe and so after some debating I came home and ordered this wool puffer jacket (more sizes here and here and also comes in beige and black). I had a little credit to Mytheresa which sealed the deal for me (Mytheresa also carries size 30 which is what I ordered ~ as Toteme runs oversized)… and I know I will get a ton of wear out of it. I am actually currently sitting in an older (olive) version of this quilted jacket as I’m typing that has become a staple for me over the past few years. It’s a great option for over workout clothes, on your way to drop-off, and everything in-between. (I saved few more practical jackets here if you’d like to browse).

These new Khaite x Oliver Peoples sunglasses are cool!

The mom who runs team’s baseball dugout had on flow-y athleisure pants on the other day and looked so put together in spite of the heat - and her + posts like this prove there is more to spectating than just yoga pants!!! 🤍🤍
I’m inspired by your post to get the A.Emery sandals to replace a different pair. Do you find them true to size? Thank you!
