2 Looks from this weekend and style thoughts on what to wear for this in-between weather...
The sun was out this weekend giving us that dose of spring energy that was just so good! These in-between winter and spring months are always a little tricky when thinking about what to wear. My brain is starting to think about spring style and yet I’m someone who’s always cold, so it’s still not quite full-on warm weather dressing for me.
If, like me, you’re craving a nod to the new season, one of the easiest ways to do so is incorporating warmer / softer tones. I’m loving all of the lighter browns, especially as an easy way to transition into spring and break away from my all-black staples. I also pulled out this knit skirt this weekend (persimmon / coral ~ any of these orange-y hues speak to me and are some of my favorite colors to wear).
Ivory is another color / go-to neutral for me (warmer than bright whites)… and I pulled out an ivory tank and shoes to play around with styling on Saturday evening.
Here’s what I wore out to dinner with the fam:
The Look | Jacket (similar vibe from Mango for under $130). Jeans (also available here). Sweater. Bag. Boots (similar). Earrings. Sunglasses.
Mixing browns, ivory and grays…
Styling Thoughts | Let’s break it down…
I like that this brown jacket gives me that polished edge I usually always crave in a leather jacket but this one feels like a fresh update for me and something different from everything I own. It’s a slightly boxy fit (I’m wearing the 34 fyi) ~ which is nice for layering sweaters underneath and is warm (it’s a very soft brushed wool) for the next couple of months if you’re in cooler climates. It’s the perfect trans-seasonal jacket. Since we frequent SF / the Bay Area often this will be an ideal year-round jacket option for me.
Clean indigo denim also feels fresh. This high-rise wide leg is so classic and comfortable (I’m on my second pair after 6+ years of wearing my first Ren non-stop). It’s also just such a soft denim. A must try if you’re looking for a new pair of denim! ~ as I think it’s truly a universally flattering one. (I always size down one size in Agolde). And as it starts to warm up ~ this is a great lighter wash for spring and summer.
And remixing for a similar but slightly dressier look on Sunday:
The Look | Jacket. Top. Earrings. Sunglasses. Boots.
Okay so I LOVE this skirt! Comfort of a knit skirt with a little semi-sheer tulle detailing along the bottom makes it so flattering and pretty when you walk. If you have any special dinners or occasions this skirt would be perfect. In my world it’s ideal for wine country, a birthday / bridal shower, work dinner or family event.
Another way to soften the look, as mentioned ~ ivory. Ivory layers (sweaters or tanks are a year round staple for me) and I love ivory boots / flats. I’ve owned these ivory python boots from Khaite for a couple years now (you know my love for this Arizona boot ~ it’s truly my ideal boot / height and comfort level etc.) … as well as an ivory pair of ballet flats from The Row (similar chic look) that I haven’t worn as much but am determined to style more. While I really liked the ballet flats with the denim and think they sort of work best when I least expect / think about grabbing for them… I ultimately went with the boots as I like a little 2” height to elongate those shorty legs of mine! Also, there’s something about going out to dinner / evening that makes me want a heel.
LOVE these looks so much! Thanks for the inspiration!
I love the skirt! I will definitely have to purchase. Thank you for sharing!
