I’ve been having a few conversations with girlfriends lately about the ways we like to treat ourselves… and what better day to chat about this then V-Day!

The conversation started with us all talking about how this is the year we turn 40. Most of us have mixed feelings on this milestone age but ultimately it feels really good and we’re excited for this new decade… and this wiser, confident version of ourselves. We open the good bottle of wine on a random Tuesday. We don’t save our special perfume or jewelry just for date nights… we treat ourselves to that daily latte, take ourselves out to solo lunches and indulge in those little everyday luxuries a bit more.
Something small I’ve been treating myself to lately that feels really luxurious (that I haven’t been good about these past couple of years because a) little kids and, b) I feel guilty for some reason): is giving myself an uninterrupted hour to just lounge around… read, whatever I want to do to relax! Guilt free. Which is hard with kids. This is especially a treat as someone who feels like there are a million things I “should be doing” around the house etc. My husband and I are constantly saying “what happened to our free time on the weekends?”… it’s a whole lot of kid activities. So I’m trying to rein this back in and train my kids on a “quiet hour” ;P to do this. It’s helping now that Rex is reading but I’d love to hear any tips on what works in your home?
Also on the topic of treating ourselves… I think about this a lot with personal style… and that certain feeling a piece of clothing or brands can give you. Instantly transforming your mood! Creating a vibe. And not saving those prized items for special occasions but wearing them everyday because they make me feel something! Dressing for ourselves more. As a working from home mom this is something I struggle with as it’s easy to stay in my workout clothes all day when in front of my computer.
I would love to hear the small or bigger ways you treat yourself?! To make the everyday feel special! I also know so many of us turn 40 this year so I’d love to hear how you plan to celebrate or how you did celebrate this milestone bday?!!

February Love List | Having less on the calendar. A pizza night out with girlfriends. Treating myself to a solo lunch. Rex and Willow’s toothless grins. A day at the de Young. Basketball games with the family... in person and on the couch. Lounging and reading mid-day guilt free. Long neighborhood walks with a good playlist! Opening our morning V-Day cards!
UBeauty’s new fragrance: Proeum! I’m always drawn to floral scents yet not too florally sweet and this one has a nice balance of feminine and earthy ~ it lingers and smells more complex and layered with wear. It’s really lovely! I came downstairs the other morning and thought I was smelling a candle burning but it turns out it was me! I highly recommend giving it a try if you love floral scents too. *I also have a code for 20% off UBeauty: ALICIALUND ~ their Super Hydrator is also a fan favorite during
In other great hydrating moisturizers ~ have you tried InnBeauty’s Extreme Cream? I think I may be the last to try this one but it’s seriously so good for the price ($48). And comparable to UBeauty / Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream.
In other best of Feb beauty buys: redundant but even just having this lip balm in my purse feels chic!
I walked out of my annual eye doctor appointment yesterday to Khaite’s newest eyewear collaboration with Oliver Peoples. So good! This pair reminds me of mine from Oliver Peoples that I always get asked about. I also saw a women wearing these Tom Ford glasses with her prescription in them this week… which have a similar vibe. If my vision keeps failing me ~ at least I’m going to get some cool eyewear out of this.
I just bought these which have been on my spring wish-list to wear with shorts, dresses / cropped denim.
I turned 40 last year and instead of 1 big party where I only got a few minutes with each person I loved, I scheduled some 1:1 some with my favorite people. A friend from the West Coast flew in for a few days. A hiking & lunch date with another. My mom got me a plane ticket to go see her ( leaving this AM!) without the kids, just mom/daughter time. A few things that got planned for this year too, so its extended the celebration! these dates are so hard once everyone has kids or moves around a bit, so having this "excuse" to get together with my favorites was just was I needed.
Hi Alicia, I’m going on safari in East Africa this June and would love to see a safari edit! Leggings or hiking pants? Technical or linen jacket? What kind of hat? So many questions.
